Bay windows are the most popular type of window to enjoy our product, here in the UK. Why? Well, let’s think of a typical bay window. Even better, perhaps you’re sitting in your home looking at a bay window and pondering if shutters for a bay will work for your window...
House builders in the UK realised that they could make homes feel brighter and lighter by incorporating bay windows into the build of their home. Be it a box bay window or a Victorian bay window, the design fundamentals are the same – i.e. – the bay window pushes ‘out’ beyond the footprint of the house and opens the window up to be exposed on three sides. That means that the room has the maximum possible change of pulling as much light into the room as possible. There are 3 sides to the window where light can enter the room.
So, bearing this in mind, why do we insist on putting heavy curtains that practically cover 2 sides of the bay window? When you open back the curtains the side sections of the bay (or returns of the bay) are somewhat covered by fabric.
