Shutters with Louvers Put You in Control

Windows Dressed for Flexibility

Slats, louvers, blades - many different names are given to the sections of wood that run horizontally within a shutter panel. For the vast majority of customers who buy panels with louvers, they want to have the option of moving these horizontal pieces of wood. This means that these pieces of wood (most often called louvers) can be tilted to an angle that controls the amount of light that permeates the room.

This feature of window shutters is a fundamental reason why they have become so popular. No other window covering allows you to leave the window treatment in place and tilt and adjust the slats to a different angle to control the amount of light that enters the room.

Which Louvered Shutters Are Right For Me?

Choosing the Correct Size for Your Louvers

Facts about our Shutter Louvers:

  • 4 sizes to choose. 47mm, 64mm, 89mm, 114mm
  • Chose with a front facing or hidden rod
  • Opt for ellipsoid louvers (rugby ball shaped) or contemporary flat slats

The trend today is very much towards larger louvers. While a few years ago 64mm (2 1/2"slats for shutters) were seen as bold, now this design choice appears a little dated.

89mm slats can seem large when you see a small sample panels but this size works very well on most windows for UK homes.

It's a fallacy to think that because your window is small, you need to have small slats. Larger slats can in fact make the space feel more open and allow more light into the room.
